Costumes have been requested a lot lately as the children try on several identities. We have cowboys, Elsa dancing and freezing with her magic powers, we have had firefighters and police officers patrolling our yard. This past week, we were very lucky to have Saanich Police drop by and meet the children in our Frogs’ class. The kids got to sit in the front seat of the police car with its lights flashing! William’s observant eyes noticed coffee cups in the police cars, so Police Officer William carried a coffee while on duty in our yard.
The highlight of our week was our annual field trip to Mt Douglas Park. There we explored Tinkertown and the children balanced on logs, negotiated crossing over the roof of a fairly stable branch built cave/ fort (with an adult nearby) and hopped on stepping stone-like tree stumps.
After snacks we headed down to the beach for some water play, searching for crabs and other sea creatures, rock painting and sand drawing. What a fantastic time for all.
